SYNOPSIS

Generations – the Silent Inheritance is a Romanian cultural project which channels the intrinsic power of theatre to cancel societal barriers – in this case, transgenerational barriers – through the process of sharing *stories, as well as identity shaping past experiences, which could inspire the feeling of belonging in different generations.

*stories about the “legendary” figures existing in each family/community.

The project was financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund (Romania), after winning the Grant Competition of the second session/2021.

In the summer of 2021 the project took place between the 5th of July and the 28th of August. It follows two main directions:

·     The artistic direction, through a touring theatre production called Generations – The Silent Inheritance.

·     The social direction, through a series of intuitive writing and storytelling workshops aimed at teenagers and the adults in their community.

 

The theatre production was rehearsed between the 5th of July and the 1st of August 2021. It premiered in Bucharest on the 2nd of August 2021 at the Apropo Theatre. It had 3 other runs in Bucharest, at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant (4th of August) and at Grădina cu Filme – Cinema & More (the 3rd and 5th of August). We aimed to bring the show to a variety of communities, therefore each city on the tour map was paired with a smaller, more isolated community, with less access to a varied cultural offer. In each city/community the show was performed once or twice, then it was followed by two days of workshops.
